OH! The 2-year-old boy miracle died without a nose
Alabama child who had been described as "a miracle" for being born without a nose died last Saturday because of an extremely rare health condition.
Eli Thompson suffered from congenital arhinia, so he had no nostrils, sinus cavities, and therefore a sense of smell, all caul gave him the physical appearance of having no nose.
"We lost our little one last night," said the boy's father, Jeremy Finch, in a Facebook message, adding that the family was very fortunate to have had the child in their lives. "We will never understand why things happened this way, and it will hurt deeply for a long time."
The child was born in March 2015 presenting the rare disorder, which - according to People - only about 40 similar cases are known in the world.
The child's mother, Brandi McGlathery, shared the story with her story two years ago in an interview on the morning show Today (NBC). "It's like any other baby. It just does not have a nose, "She said then.
