A woman allowed a snake to bite her baby said People are too sensitive

A woman from Florida Highlands County is under investigation for sharing a video on her Facebook account which shows how she allows a snake to bite her one-year-old girl.

In the video, the minor appears to be on a wheeled walker when her mother shows her the snake in a plastic container. The girl makes a move to grab the animal when the snake reacts and apparently bites her, so she begins to cry. In the background, the mother is laughing.

The mother of the child, Chartelle St. Laurent, told the local ABC Action News channel that she "would never hurt" her children, despite authorities deeming the opposite. "People are too sensitive," she said.

St. Laurent, 34, said she found the reptile in front of her home near Sebring, which struck her and another of her children harmlessly, so she thought it was a good opportunity for her. Teach your daughter how to deal with these types of animals.

A spokesman for the county sheriff's office told the channel that this is not a good practice to teach a child that a snake should not be touched.

Although the type of snake that appears in the images is not poisonous, and the mother said that her bite leaves no mark, the police opened a file about what happened.
That report was sent to the state prosecutor's office, which must now determine whether St. Laurent's actions constitute a crime under Florida law.
