Meet the young Spaniard who died when confronting the terrorists of London with a skateboard

After a long day of anguish, the Spanish family Ignacio Echeverria confirmed Wednesday that the young banker was one of eight victims of the London bombing last Saturday.
"Ignacio did not survive the moment of the attack," confirmed his sister Ana, who from the day of the attack had been looking for Ignacio and hoping he was among the dozens injured.

Ignacio, who worked at the headquarters of HSBC Bank in the British capital, returned with some friends to skate when they found the attack in the Borough Market. According to his friends, instead of fleeing, he launched himself in defense of a woman who was being stabbed by the terrorists. That was the last time he was alive.

"He threw the bike and hit the attacker with the skateboard while two other men attacked him from behind and lay on the ground," said one of the friends.
His bravery earned him the nickname of the Hero of the skateboard, as the English media called it.

While British police received their fingerprints on Sunday, they asked for further proof of their identity and requested DNA samples to complete the profile of the victim.
The long wait irritated the family and the Spanish authorities, who pressured the British to speed up the identification process.

"My brother Ignacio tried to stop some terrorists, and he lost his life trying to save others. Igna we love you and we will never forget you, "wrote her sister Ana in her Facebook profile. "Thank you to all who loved and cared for you. We know that we are not the only ones sad. We want to see and be with Ignacio's body. "
The attack, carried out by three men armed with knives and who attacked passersby with a van, claimed eight lives and left 48 wounded, according to the authorities.
