This is why Prince William does not wear his wedding ring

While Kate Middleton's left hand always looks adorned with the symbol of love between her and her husband, Prince William does not wear anything on his fingers

There is no doubt that Prince William loves his wife and family, just like any other family man, but why does the Duchess of Cambridge's husband, Kate Halfton, not marrying her wedding ring? The admirers of the Royal Family have not missed this detail, since since he married in April 2011, William chose not to wear the ring in his left hand. The reason is simple: it is a case of personal tastes.

William, 34 years old, does not wear his wedding ring because, in general, he does not like jewelry of any kind, which is why he prefers to go through life without the ring on. His decision was announced shortly before his wedding in Westminster Abbey, with an announcement of the Palace of St. James confirming the news.

The father of Prince George and Princess Charlotte is not the only royal who prefers to have the jewelry at home. Despite being married for almost 70 years with Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip also does not wear a wedding ring. In contrast, Prince Charles, William's father and Prince Harry, does carry his ring, next to a characteristic ring on the little finger of his left hand.
The tradition of a woman wearing an engagement ring dates from ancient Egypt, but it was only at the end of the last century when a small number of men began to wear it.

It is believed that World War II brought about a change in many Western men struggling abroad. They chose to wear the ring as a reminder that their wife and children were waiting for them at home.
The engagement ring also began to be used on the fourth finger of the left hand by an ancient belief that there was a vein there leading directly to the heart, which the Romans knew as 'vein amoris', that is, love'.

Unlike William, his wife, Kate Middleton, does wear her wedding ring, a ring made of gold extracted from Clogau St. David's mines in Bontddu, north Wales. Gold from these mines has been the material for various royal wedding rings, including Queen's, Queen's Mother and Diana, the Princess of Wales. In 1986, Queen Elizabeth II was presented with some gold from the mines and it was with her that she made the ring that Kate carries in her left hand, next to the 18-carat sapphire engagement ring that used to belong to the Princess Diana.
