Trump invites relatives of people murdered by undocumented immigrants to their speech at Congress

For his first address to a joint session of the US Congress tonight, President Donald Trump will have three guests whose relatives were killed by undocumented immigrants in this country.

According to ABC, among Trump's special guests are two widows of California police officers and the father of another man, all killed by people who were in this country illegally. The trio will sit next to the first lady of the country, Melania Trump, on the presidential balcony.

One of them will be Jamiel Shaw, the father of Jamiel Jr., a high school student and football player, who was murdered in 2008 by a gang member. Shaw was a regular speaker on Trump's campaign announcements and announcements, including the Republican National Convention. Also attending tonight as guests of Trump Jessica Davis and Susan Oliver, the widows of Detective Michael Davis Jr. and Deputy Sheriff Danny Oliver, who were murdered in 2014 while on duty in the state of California.



In a press release, the White House noted that the names of these two officers "were honored in the Davis-Oliver law that seeks to increase cooperation between federal and local officials to enforce our immigration laws."

Trump's other special guests during his first appearance in Congress this evening: people with stories of self-improvement such as Megan Crowley, a survivor of Pompe disease; Denisha Merriweather, the young student who became the first person in her family to complete a college career thanks to an educational program in Florida; And Maureen McCarthy Scalia, the widow of the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
