HORROR: A 3-year-old girl lived for several days with her mother's corpse

A 3-year-old girl lived for several days with her dead mother in an apartment in East Hartford, Connecticut, where she could only feed on cereal she found on the floor.

Authorities are awaiting the results of the autopsy of the 37-year-old woman whose body was discovered by a social worker.

So far they have not found evidence of a criminal action.

According to the Associated Press, the social worker went to the apartment to find out why she had not attended the nursery for several days. Upon entering the home, he discovered with horror that the child, who thought her mother was sleeping, had been alone for several days with the corpse in the bathroom.

 

Lieutenant Joshua Litwin reported that the investigators in the case have not been able to determine exactly how many days the poor person lived in those conditions, but they do believe that "it was definitely more than a couple of days."

The girl, whose name was not revealed because she was a minor, was dehydrated, but had survived because she ate cereal that was lying on the floor. She is expected to recover and, for the moment, is hospitalized in a nearby children's hospital.

A neighbor pointed out that she had noticed that the volume of the TV in the apartment was very high and that she heard the girl crying several times, but ignored it because she thought the little girl was making a tantrum.
