HORROR: A 1-year-old girl dies after being hit in Queens, New York

A girl in Queens County, New York was run over and crushed Thursday by being under the wheels of a van while her mother stared in horror, witnesses to the horrific event. The young mom was pushing the car carrying little 1-year-old Skylar Perkins in a pink stroller on 23rd Avenue in Elmhurst neighborhood, around 8:40 p.m. when a white Dodge Ram rolled over the smaller one. Wallace Ramirez, 44, of Ashfield, Massachusetts, was turning right from 94th Street when he crashed into the stroller. "He rolled right over the front of the stroller," said Philip Walker, a witness who was in the area to the New York Daily News. "I was screaming and he still did not see her, I did not see anything." "She [mother] screamed, 'You hit my baby, my baby, my baby!', She just tried to reach the car under the truck, but it had already arrived completely under the wheel," Walker added.

A couple of nearby New York police officers hurried to the mother and child and took them to Elmhurst Hospital, where Little Skylar died. Both Walker and another witness, Reese Fluellen, said that at the time of the accident the mother of the little girl was on the phone. Leo Guerrero, 45, was in the car behind the truck.
