Barack Obama enjoys his days off with his golf clubs, under the California sun

After eight arduous years of work in the White House, what former President Barack Obama needed was a break. Last Friday, after the inauguration of President Donald Trump, Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, arrived in California for a well-deserved vacation. A few days ago some photographs of Obama were revealed in his first days off doing one of his favorite activities: playing golf.

Throughout his term as president, Obama showed that one of his greatest sports was golf. During his summer vacation at Martha's Vineyard he spent hours practicing this discipline, as well as on his winter rest days, which he spent in Hawaii, alongside his wife and two daughters.

"I'm not a hack, but I do it well," he said in an interview with David Feherty in August last year when he was still in office as President of the United States. The NBC host asked him how skillful he was in this sport and described himself as an honest 13, which means his average is 85 strokes. "My push is straight, but not impressive." According to White House CBS correspondent Mark Knoller, Barack Obama won his 300th golf game last August.
The Golf Digest portal investigated that Obama played 306 games throughout his two presidential terms. Meanwhile, the portal indicates that Woodrow Wilson played about 1,200 rounds in his administration, while Dwight Eisenhower played 800 games.

Making an approximate, Barack Obama played about 38 games per year, which is above the average, which is 19.3, according to the National Golf Foundation (NGF). With those numbers, Obama falls into the avid golfer category, which defines the NGF as the players who made 25 games in a year. Only 2.1% of the US population is qualified in that category and only 25.6% of golfers play with that frequency.
