Tiger Woods breaks the silence: alcohol was not the cause of my arrest
One day after being arrested in Florida for driving under the influence, golfer Tiger Woods broke the silence to ensure that contrary to what you might think, alcohol "had no connection" with this incident.
"I understand the gravity of what I did and I assume absolute responsibility for my actions," the 14-time champion said in a statement. "I want the public to know that alcohol had nothing to do with [the incident]. What happened was a reaction to a prescription medicine. I did not realize that the drug mix had affected me so strongly. "
The 41-year-old athlete apologized for what happened and its consequences, while thanking his fans for their support they have provided. "I also expect more from myself," he said, "I will do everything in my power to make sure this does not happen again."
