American man killed in the slaughter in parliament London

Kurt Cochran and his wife Melissa were on holiday in England celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary when their passage through the British parliament became a tragedy. The Utah couple are among the victims of the massacre that occurred there when an attacker ran over several people in their SUV and finally crashed the vehicle into the fence that surrounds the parliament, located in Westminster Palace. The man, who was shot down by police and died on the scene, also stabbed a policeman, killing four people and injuring 40. British police have called the event a terrorist act. "Our family is heartbroken," Clint Payne, Melissa's brother, told People magazine. Kurt Cochran died in the massacre while Melissa was seriously injured and is still hospitalized. The couple planned to return home today, a day after the tragedy.

"Kurt was a good man and a loving husband," Payne acknowledged. "We express our gratitude to the emergency and medical team who cared for them and ask for their prayers for Melissa and our family." The marriage was on a dream vacation which also included stops in Austria and Germany. Melissa has "a broken leg, a broken rib and a cut in the head", but will survive, as her brother shared in social networks. "Our hearts are hurt by her and her children who lost a companion and a loving father," he added.
