Following his resounding win against prognosis, Donald Trump reached out to his opponents and citizens who did not vote him to "heal the wounds" that has left a fierce election campaign that has polarized the country like never before.

Trump explained that he had received a call from his competitor in which he acknowledged his defeat and congratulated him on his victory. He noted that Clinton "fought hard" and stressed that the country owes "gratitude" for its long years of service.

"Now is the time for the United States to heal the wounds," he said, surrounded by his family and his running mate, Mike Pence. "It's time to unite as one people."

He also noted that his candidacy was not "a campaign" but a "movement" of those who "expect the government to serve the people and serve the will of the people."

"It's going to be something beautiful," promised the billionaire, who spoke of major investments in infrastructure and the rebuilding of economically depressed neighborhoods. "No dream will be unreachable and no challenge too great."

Faced with the fear that his presidency has generated in other countries and in the markets, Trump wanted to calm the spirits with expressions of good will. "While we will put the interests of the United States ahead, we will collaborate with the whole world."

The victory of the entrepreneur, who has never held a public position and has never been a political candidate, seemed very difficult in the face of the lead that his rival was taking in the polls and the number of key states he had to win to defeat it.

The new president will also reach the White House with his ruling party in both houses of Congress.
